Ask a question

This handmade dish is an Ikebana style vase. Ikebana is a type of Japanese flower arranging that has been popular since the 7th century.

This vase is handmade from black clay from Canada. Black clay is a unique substance that derives it dark colour from its high iron content.

This vase was formed on my potter's wheel. It was then fired to bisque and then glazed with a merlot mottled glaze and refined to a temperature of 2158 F so it is both durable and beautiful.

*A kenzan (spiky frog) is not included with this vase but I can supply a very high quality 2 inch Japanese made kenzan for an additional cost of $17 Canadian if you send me a message. The kenzan may add slightly to the shipping cost as it is small but heavy so it can support flowers. We can discuss by message if you are interested in this option.
