This elegant serving dish was hand formed from black clay and then painted with a mixture of turquoise and chartreuse/gold coloured glazes. I embossed the inside of the dish with a white crysthanthemum design. After forming the dish by hand, I fired the dish in my kiln to a temperature of 2150 deg F so it is very durable.

This dish would make a beautiful and unique wedding or anniversary gift.

Black clay is a unique substance that derives it dark colour from its high iron content. While these dishes are microwavable, unlike most ceramic dishes, they become very hot and hold their heat for a long time. This is a great feature if you want to keep something warm but remember to handle with care if you use these in a microwave oven.
