This vase is handmade from black clay from Canada. Black clay is a unique substance and this particular clay derives it dark colour from its high iron content.
I formed the vase on a potter's wheel and it was then trimmed by hand and then fired in my kiln. After the initial firing, I applied the light green/blue glaze and the piece was then fired again to 2158 deg F.
The vase is 13.5 cm high and 11 cm in diameter.
