This is an Ikebana style vase. Ikebana is a type of Japanese flower arranging that has been popular since the 7th century.
This vase is handmade from Canadian black clay. I hand formed it, painted with underglazes and fired to Cone 5 (2158 deg F). This elegant piece incorporates a textured design around the rim of the water basin.
A high quality Japanese medium sized 2 inch Kenzan (Frog) spiked flower holder fits in the opening and is available for an extra cost (at my cost) of $12 Canadian. Send me a message if you would like me include one in your order.
